What a year 2019 turned out to be! Many new clients, as well as many returning clients. Traveled to several new locations, even out of state. It was quite an adventure and I had definitely enjoyed each and every session.
I had done photography for many years, as a hobby. When I decided almost two years ago to begin doing it as a full-blown business, I never expected it to open my eyes as much as it has. My heart is fully in every session, beginning to end. This has been the hardest part of owning a photography business. From seeing clients use other photographers, to knowing someone cannot afford my services when they really want photographs taken (and so many other little things). It all hurts. But from this pain, I grow. A fire is lit inside my soul to gain knowledge of why things don’t go as planned, what I can do to change things, and how I can help others.
Now, I can’t give all my session away – in fact I am giving away less these days as far as posts trying to gain likes. This method is so far overused by all businesses – especially photographers. Rather, I go about giveaways quietly for the most part. I do feel that I should still giveaway a session a couple times a year – being that I have had clients tell me how absolutely wonderful the session was and seeing the images has helped them at a time in their life when they needed to see the beauty that surrounds them.
With all of that being said, my absolute best form of dealing with the downside to running a business is that I give it to God. At the end of a long, hard day, I pray. I pray for strength, understanding, and many other things. Faith has been the driving force behind my work for a while. It took me until my late 20’s to realize it was missing from my life and work.
So, once the new year rolls in – I will continue to do what I love no matter what! For every time I feel like giving up – there is an amazing session waiting to happen. Praying for another year of meeting amazing people! I guess you can say, 2019 and all the years prior, had given me 2020 vision 😉
